Ghost
I am in love with the way you hold your head.
I can’t explain how you keep the ghosts from running away with me.
I will appear to have my heart on my sleeve but we know it’s back in the field.
But, on what I thought was my last breath, you sang your sang your comfort, and when in what in what surely was my grave you lifted me.
Over my love I will crawl back into grave.
But high I will stay, in your arms, on my back, and in your bed.
Because on what I thought was my last breath, you sang your sang your comfort, and when what in what surely was my grave you lifted me.
I’m still falling in love.

The best day
I was hanging out on 19th and Anaheim.
I looked up to the sun going down.
It was strangely beautiful for Los Angeles.
When I turned around there was my Dad.
He asked me if I still wanted to live.
It was the longest drive.
I asked them to have no one around.
Shame has my heart by the throat.
I could not walk in my own house.
My brother came out with me and cried.
All I could do was cry.
Lord, you left the ninety-nine to find me. Lord, you laid me on your neck rejoicing.
My family gathered around me to pray.
Isaiah’s book is what was read.
I gathered myself and crawled into bed.
Love suffered long but had its way.
I had the best sleep.
Lord, you laid me on your neck rejoicing.
Lord, you left the ninety-nine to find me.
It was the best day.

Here he comes running down the mountain straight for me.
Eyes like doves locked upon this old broken heart.
We meet beneath the sheets of this pain that covers me and
it’s there you pour your oil on my two timing heart.
It’s there you kiss the ashes off my back and thought
Calling me a son, convincing me, I will not allow your foot to be moved from this rocky place.
I will never leave your side, holding your hand down when you go.
I can still hear,
He will not pass because I cry for you

Shipwreck
I pushed off with sails high and my best filled to the top.
On my head was my confidence with no destination in sight.
I went out for a sail knowing part of me would never make it home.
A hundred thousand dead on the floor, convinced, thirty years is all I got.
Pushed through waters and downed the rain not many men would dare to go.
Men with drowned hearts and broken hands soon took over the wheel.
Then one morning I woke up to yelling.
Got dressed up to see this man headed straight for us.
He was was on the walking on the water.
I went out for a sail knowing part of me would never make it home.
A hundred thousand dead on the floor, convinced, thirty years is all I got.
Then the man who was walking on water made it to the boat, he set the sail, then raised the anchor, then he said to me…
Shipwreck, you will not go down to the bottom of this sea.
Shipwreck, you will not lay at the bottom of this sea.
You will will reach land this very day and I will give you shelter.
Shelter you
I went out for a sail thinking part of me would never make it home
How was I to know that hope would be the thing to tow me home?

Six dreams, strong hands
My hands pushed your back down to the floor, I can love you up.
Took off my ring, put it on your head, I can love it off.
Thought of you always, never said a thing, I will love you more.
Old hands are strong my love, let them break my heart. Your turn is understood because I see your back. Six dreams are dead and gone because I woke you up. Your turn is understood and I live with that.
My hands pushed your back down to the floor, I can love you up.
Took off my ring, put it on your head, I can love it off.
I thought of you always, never said a thing, I can love you more.
Old hands are strong my love, let them break my heart. The turn is understood because I see your back. Six dreams are dead and gone because I woke you up. Your turn is understood and I live with that.

The name she gave was Caroline
Daughter of a miner
Her ways were free
It seemed to me
That sunshine walked beside her
She came from Spencer
Across the hill
She said her pa had sent her
'cause the coal was low
And soon the snow
Would turn the skies to winter
She said she'd come
To look for work
She was not seeking favors
And for a dime a day
And a place to stay
She'd turn those hands to labor
But the times were hard, Lord,
The jobs were few
All through Tecumseh valley
But she asked around
And a job she found
Tending bar at Gypsy Sally's
She saved enough to get back home
When spring replaced the winter
But her dreams were denied
Her pa had died
The word come down from Spencer
So she turned to whorin' out on the streets
With all the lust inside her
And it was many a man
Returned again
To lay himself beside her
They found her down beneath the stairs
That led to Gypsy Sally's
In her hand when she died
Was a note that cried
Fare thee well
Tecumseh valley
The name she gave was Caroline
Daughter of a miner
Her ways were free
It seemed to me
That sunshine walked beside her

Family Arrow
Please don’t break my back or this weary heart.
It carries up the family of my only son.
Don’t shoot me out like an arrow.
Come back, sit down my love for mercy sake.
I cry all night and I make my bed swim.
Please don’t break my back or this weary heart.
It carries down the family of my only son.
You can shoot me out like an arrow.
You’re the one took me in when I broke and ran.
I cry all night and your love comes.
Come

YOU SAY
You say I am lovely, there is no spot in me.
Just one turn of my neck and you come running.
With one look of my eye and I ravish your heart.
To you my love is better than all of time had to offer you.
I am my beloveds, he is mine.
His love is better than wine.
He took my cheating heart as a bride.
You saw me through the longest winter.
You saw me through the longest winter.
Behold the winter has passed, the rain is over and gone, flowers gather upon my head, and the time of singing has come.
Come
